The NMCA is working towards a sealed-engine LSX race class – this is a huge step forward for the legendary racing organization.

One of our insiders sources over at the NMCA recently shared with us that they are working on the next level of NMCA classes in conjunction with the fine folks at Chevrolet Performance. There are still details to be ironed out, but they’re well on the way towards putting a class together along the lines of the NMRA’s wildly-successful Coyote Stock class.

“We are working hard with Chevrolet Performance Parts on a sealed LS engine program. We don’t have a lot of answers right now, but we will be bringing them to you as soon as we have information,” says NMCA’s Rollie Miller. The sanctioning body is still hashing out a complete rules package and hopes to have more information shortly. 

They are tossing around the idea of a package weighing in at 3,150 pounds and using a 525-horsepower sealed crate engine with a Powerglide transmission and 28×10.5 tire.

This is an intriguing idea to say the least; the NMRA’s Coyote Stock class has become huge over the last two seasons with more competitors stepping in at seemingly every race. Does this open up the possibility of a Coyote Stock versus LSX Stock shootout? Anything is possible, as there are a new group of leaders in place with the NMCA who are very passionate about the sport of drag racing and are excited to build the NMCA even bigger – NMCA 2.0, if you will.
