Automakers use test tracks to test and to refine the ride and handling of their cars before they make them available to the public. While US automakers have several test tracks in the US that they make use of, Chevy made two celebratory announcements recently. First, they’re going back to the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The second is that they’re bringing the 2016 Camaro to show off. The 2016 Camaro was tested on eight tracks around the world, and the Autobahn.

Since its inception, the Camaro has been a sales leader in the US. It has held a top position in the sporty/muscle car segment for the past five years. Now, Chevrolet will start selling the 2016 Camaro in Europe, starting in the summer of 2016, although final pricing and technical specs have yet to be announced.

The 2016 Camaro’s broader-range of powertrain options and all-new lighter architecture, makes it more nimble and delivers a faster driving experience. There will be a 2-liter turbo charged four-cylinder (275 hp/295 lb/ft.), and the LT1 6.2 V8 rated at 455 horsepower with 455 lb/ft. of torque. This will make it the most powerful Camaro ever sold in Europe. Both engine packages will be available with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the V8 models will also be available with a six-speed manual transmission.

The 2016 Camaro underwent an exterior redesign, resulting in a leaner and stiffer platform from a package with slightly smaller dimensions. This exterior redesign spent many hours in the wind tunnel being tuned. The result is an exterior design that greatly contributes to the car’s performance by reducing lift and drag, and enhancing efficiency. An interior/technical redesign includes the new Drive Mode Selector, an instrument cluster you can customize to your likes and needs, and a customizable ambient lighting feature.

For Camaro enthusiasts, it retains iconic design cues and offers more performance. For a new generation of buyers, the 2016 Camaro incorporates our most innovative engineering ideas with finely honed performance and leading design.”

The new design criteria used gives the new Camaro a more appealing look on the outside. Chevy also gave customers the ability to customize their Camaro in more ways than ever before, including stripes, colors, wheels, and tires.
