Social media and blogging are the cornerstones of today’s news and entertainment, and we are all about that being the best digital magazine for Chevy enthusiasts on the interweb. Because we keep our finger on the bowtie pulse of the webs, we constantly keep an eye on some of the best bloggers and company accounts in the social media cauldron.

Twitter is one of our favorite media sites to visit during the day at the office. Because the posts are limited to 140 characters at a time, this site is quick and easy to get right down to the nuts and bolts of what’s going on. Twitter is responsible for bringing the term “trending” into our lives.  Twitter users are responsible for “hashtag” and “discover” in their microblogging world.

A survey was done to breakdown the numerous tweets that were posted each day, divided into six classes. 40% of the daily tweets were pointless babble and 38% were conversational. Add another 6% of self-promotion and 4% of spam and we are only left with 12% of the tweets that are actually news or have pass along value.

We wanted to help by highlighting those twitter accounts that focus on Chevy products that have news or entertainment value. Here is our list of Twitter #mustfollow accounts:

@GM tweets some of the best archived GM photos from decades ago.

1. General Motors @GM. “Bringing GM information to Twitter one tweet at a time.”

Obviously we keep up with the professional and buttoned-down news from the manufacturer and this is the account we follow to get that news. This corporate account is the best place to get previews of upcoming releases or historical photos from the past. The entertainment value is only moderate but the facts and news is high on this account. Unlike many other corporate accounts, @GM does not over-post and fill up your feed with multiple tweets in a row. #considerate!

@GM brings the heat with their flashback photos. We always look forward to “Throw Back Thursdays” on this account.

Who knew that a dealership would wax poetic on classic GM cars? Dale Jr’s Buick Cadillac GMC does.

2. Dale Earnhardt Jr’s GM dealership. @dalejrbgc. “The Official Twitter account for Dale Earnhardt Jr Buick GMC Cadillac Dealership.”

Believe it or not, this account posts some great photos of classic Buick and Caddys. You want to see classic GMC trucks? This is one online place that you need to visit.

3. ChevyChase. @ChevyChase. “Official Chevy Chase Parody Page, I’m NOT the real Chevy.”

May not be from GM but it is entertaining.

Sure, we know this has nothing to do with the Chevy brand but parody accounts are generally offer the most hilarious tweets on the site, and this one has Chevy in the name! No need to worry about too much foul language, this is a pretty family friendly account with enough adult humor to keep everyone interested.

Never thought of it that way before.

Don’t expect a lot of photo or video posts however. In over 1,100 tweets from April, 2012, only one photo was tweeted. The rest is simple humorous with much of it worth stealing and repeating. Did we say steal? We meant to say imitate – which is the most sincere form of flattery.

Don’t do it! We’ve tried this before with horrible results.

@ChevyCamaroPorn finds some interesting Camaro photos.

4. Chevy Camaro Porn. @ChevyCamaroPorn. “Not real porn, just Chevy Camaros.”

It might not be “real porn” but the photos are hardcore and we love them. We hope that by putting this account on our list, they will tweet more often and bring us more of the photos the we love to see. It’s strictly Camaro, but… what more do you really need?

It is truly hardcore porn to us and we can’t get enough.

5. Corvette Blogger. @CorvetteBlogger. “Corvette: Sales, News and Lifestyle – We cover all generations of the Chevrolet Corvette including the latest C7 news, spy photos and videos.”

Everyone likes to see photos and news about America’s first sportscar. This is two-seater blogging at it’s finest. If you like to hear the rumor mill cranking about possible mid-engine Corvettes or watch videos of a 1963 Vette Grand Sport starting up, this is the place to go. We dare you to go to @CorvetteBlogger’s profile page and not open a link. One of our favorites: Round or Square.
