A 704-horsepower engine built by Richard Maskin around the Dart LS Next block will be offered on eBay starting December 12 in support of the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund.

The 434ci engine also pumped out 601 lb-ft peak torque with a single 4-barrel carb on pump gasoline.

Maskin, who was the engine builder/crew chief on a number of NHRA championship teams, developed the LS Next block with a number of unique features, including a redesigned bottom end that helps reduce windage and improves oil control. The new block also allows a distributor in place of the factory coil-on-plug arrangement.

The SEMA project engine sports CNC-ported Dart Pro 1 aluminum heads. Other contributors include Allstar Performance, ARP, ATI, Callies, Champion, Clevite, Comp Cams, Diamond, Fel-Pro, Hedman Hedders, Holley, Joe Gibbs Driven, Meziere, Moroso, MSD, PowerMaster, Total Seal and Trend.

The engine will be finished according to the requirements of the buyer to accomodate street or track use.

SEMA’s scholarships are awarded to university, 2-year college and trade school students pursuing a career in the automotive industry.
