The LEGO Group announced a partnership with Warner Brothers Consumer Products in late January that will bring building sets inspired by the classic animated series, Scooby Doo.
While the animated series has endured in several different versions since 1969, the one thing that has stayed constant is gang’s mode of transport, the iconic Mystery Machine. The psychedelic van will be featured in the debut Scooby LEGO line. According to the company’s press release, the Mystery Machine kit will have 301-pieces and a $29.99 price tag.
In addition to the iconic van, which will be sporting computer screens, spy glass and other mystery-solving equipment, the set will have a spooky tree, a giant triple-decker sandwich and mini figures of Scooby, Shaggy, Fred and a zombie whose identity the home builders will have to figure out with clues.
The van itself is a faithful reproduction of the one Fred has been driving for decades, and by the size of it, the van looks like there’s room for the whole Mystery Inc. gang inside.
The LEGO group also released information on an animated special: “In 2015, fans can look forward to a 22-minute LEGO special, featuring Scooby-Doo, and produced in partnership with Warner Bros. Animation. In addition, Warner Bros. Animation will also be producing made-for-video movie titles, which will be released by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment in the coming years.”
Other Scooby Doo complete sets are planned based on recognizable stories from the series’ past, such as the Mummy Museum Mystery, the Haunted Lighthouse and the Mystery Mansion. LEGO Scooby-Doo products are planned to range from $14.99 to $89.99 and will be available in toy stores nationwide beginning in August according to the release.
