Its official– the Chevy SS is done for. Just recently, the very last one rolled off the production line in Adelaide, Australia and is now somewhere in route to its new owner in the United States.

Yes, we knew this was coming but, nonetheless, its still a sad time for us Holden fans.

Chevy never really put effort into advertising their SS, its said it was never really meant to be a high volume seller– and it definitely lived up to this statement with only about 13,000 exported to the States since their inception. Many say that the vehicle was just a way for General Motors to fill up Holden’s plant up until its planned shutdown date, which is scheduled for later this year.

The company stopped taking orders for new SS’ back in February of this year and, with the plant soon to be closed for good, not only does today’s news mark the very last Chevy SS, but also probably also the last Australian-built GM car ever heading to the States.

The swan song SS was finished in Phantom Black Metallic and its 6.2-liter LS3 V8 was rightfully paired with the six-speed manual transmission–a rare option that will only add more desirability to the final example. Motoring reports that the buyer, whom is likely someone at General Motors or a dealership, requested that the crew building the car each sign the inside of the engine bay– they happily obliged.
