Today that truck has become a reality, and we have all of the information about the new GM full-size haulers here.
At first glance they don’t really look that different from the outgoing models, but the changes are in the details. Obviously, there’s a new grille and headlamp arrangement, bringing the truck into the current decade. But if you’re familiar with the last generation, then it becomes quite clear that the entire body has been freshened with bolder, crisper, and sharper lines.
Inside, the old dashboard has been completely replace by this new version that reminds us of the 2013 Camaro, particularly with the huge navigation screen in the center. The digital gauge cluster includes a complete information system – no dummy lights here.
Under the hood, the entry-level models will be equipped with an all-new 4.3L V6, the midrange trucks will get a choice of two different 5.3L V8’s, and there’s even talk about the possibility of a high output 6.2L similar the new Gen-V LT1 that will be under the hood of the C7 Corvette. Chevrolet is claiming a combined fuel economy of 17 mpg – which isn’t actually that bad for a truck of this size.
With the new Silverado and Sierra paving the way for the upcoming revitalized vehicles from GM, we’re developing new confidence in the automaker. How about you?
