General Motors announced six new recalls this week, two of which may affect our readers. The first concerns a total of 414,333 cars, including the 2011-2012 model year Chevrolet Camaro, 2010-2012 model year Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain, 2011-2012 Buick Regal and LaCrosse, and 2010-2012 Cadillac SRX equipped with power seats. A bolt can fall out of the height adjustment mechanism – while GM says that it’s safe to drive the cars until the fix is made, they are aware of one crash and three injuries but no fatalities related to this issue.
The second relevant recall covers 124,007 model year 2014 Chevrolet Caprice, 2014 Chevrolet SS, 2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado LD and HD, 2013-2014 Cadillac ATS, 2014 Cadillac CTS, 2014 Cadillac ELR; 2013-2014 Buick Encore; and 2014-2015 GMC Sierra LD and HD vehicles. Turns out that an assembly line robot that uses frikkin lasers to weld seat hook bracket assemblies temporarily lost power, and as a result there may be incomplete welds in these areas. GM says that less than 1% of the vehicles covered by the recall will actually have to have the bracket replaced, and there are no crashes or injuries traceable to this recall.
