If you watch eBay Motors like we do, you know that there are a lot of cars out there being advertised under false pretenses. After wading through a good amount of these so-called “rare” and “unique” cars, however, we were able to find a ‘67 Camaro worth noting. Not only is our latest eBay find a rare Z/28, it was also once a General Motors entry Trans Am car in the Sports Car Club of America.
In 1967, the Camaro was born. Among these new muscle cars came a mere 602 highly-optioned Z/28s. Since their debute, the first-year Z/28s have skyrocketed in value and become very sought after collector cars. The Camaro on eBay is such a car and is even being sold at a lower-than usual price. But here’s the kicker- the car is currently not running and is in need of some mechanical work, making the Camaro the perfect project for the mechanically inclined.
Although the car will need a little work to get it running, it sports some highly-sought after options, including a high-performance 302cui V8 engine, 4-speed close ratio transmission, four piston disc brakes and a 12-bolt positraction rear end. The car is also equipped with a special suspension, special instrumentation and a custom interior. Better yet, the Camaro still retains its original frame, quarter panels, floors and trunk.
This is definitely a rare opportunity to own a first-year Z/28, as they are dwindling in numbers, especially in good condition. While it may not be completely restored and in running condition, this Z/28 will surely be exquisite once it is finished. And for a fraction of the price of a finished ‘67 Z/28, what’s there to lose?
With the lot expiring on November 11th, we look forward to seeing how much this rare project car goes for.
