While station wagons seem to be in vogue with car customizers these days, it certainly isn’t the first time the trend of long-roof sports cars has been around. While we’re not even going to go as far as saying the craze started with the ‘55-’57 Chevy Nomad station wagon, this is arguably the best example of a classic sports wagon, and to this day remains coveted by car collectors and customizers alike.

Up on eBay we came across a car described as the ultimate restomod and cruiser. And it happens to be a ‘57 Nomad with a supercharged LS1 engine under the hood, and every creature comfort and amenity you could want. So, is this the ultimate car?

One certainly could make that argument, and as an added bonus this is a real Nomad and not just a reproduction. This Nomad had undergone an entire frame-off restoration, and anything that couldn’t be fixed was replaced. The entire front subframe was replaced with the subframe from a 1996 Corvette, and out back is a Dana 44 rear end.

On the inside is a period-correct restoration using all the right carpets and moldings. But this retro ride has plenty of modern doodads cleverly worked into the car. For example, the manual window cranks operate the power windows, and a CD player has been hidden under the dashboard.

And of course there is the supercharged LS1 engine hooked to a modern four-speed automatic. We wouldn’t hesitate hopping into this Nomad for a cross-country trip, though the nearly-$95,000 asking price would mean eating a lot of Ramen noodles along the way.
