If you’re looking for a cheap project car (and who isn’t) one oft-overlooked vehicle is the 1973+ Chevrolet Chevelle. Sure, it lacked the factory horsepower or streamlined goodlooks of its predecessors, but these early-70’s Chevelles still look good in their own right. That, and you can get them dirt cheap, allowing you to get creative with the rest of the project.
And creative is the name of the game with today’s Craigslist Find. Straight out of the hillbilly backwoods of Hartford, CT is a ‘73 Chevelle attached to the frame of a Chevy Blazer. Because if primer and four-wheel drive isn’t classy, we don’t know what is.
The owner states that this is a “true one of a kind”, and we can’t disagree there. The Chevelle/Blazer combo meal comes powered by a bland, 305ci small-block with a mild cam, and yes the 4×4 system does work. It’s a damn good thing too, because we know how much those New England rednecks like to play in the mud.
The interior definitely reflects the Northeastern upbringing of the builder, what with “safety features” like a roll cage and a custom dashboard because obviously stock ain’t good enough on a ride like this. If anything, it is definitely an attention grabber, and you’d have a hard time going unnoticed in this custom Chevy. For $3,650, how can something this right possibly go wrong?
