Comp-Equipped, Dart Block-Wielding Biscayne Shows How it’s Done

Building a project car is all about personal style. While some people like their vehicles to be flashy, others just want it to get the job done and done right. That’s exactly how Rich “Ratty” Katz approached his Comp-equipped, Dart block-wielding ‘66 Chevy Biscayne build. Featured on Comp Performance Group’s website, this bad little Chevy proves you don’t have to be a magazine project car to be a “Winner.”

Just like the blown Charger SRT8 we showed you on Wednesday, this Chevy Biscayne was featured in the “Winners” section of Comp Performance Group’s website. Dedicated to showing off rides that feature Comp components, the Winners section gives Comp customers a place to post pictures, specs and accomplishments of their rides.

Built from the ground up, this Chevy Biscayne is definitely worthy of the winner’s circle. To start with, the body of the ‘66 is matted to an Art Morrison H-frame with a four-link, Ford 9-inch rear end. The car was also treated to a hefty suspension, complete with tubular A-arms and coilovers, and matched with a Mustang II Power Rack and Pinion setup.

The big guns came out when it came to equipping the car with plenty of power. The Biscayne boasts a 406cui Dart block with Dart heads, a Comp Cam Solid Lifter Camshaft, Hi-Tech Pushrods, dual valve springs, titanium retainers and Magnum Steel Roller Rockers. When all is said and done, this setup pushes 550hp and produces low 12-second quarter-mile times.

The Biscayne currently has 3.50 gears in the rear end, but 4.33s are planned for the future. Matched with the direct port nitrous kit that has yet to be installed, the car should be pushing low 11 or high 10-second track times by the end of 2012.

Being the first build of Katz’s, we’re very impressed with this classic Biscayne. We look forward to seeing what the future brings for this “all go and no show” street and strip Chevy.
