Classic Industries Offers A “Word On Wood” When It Comes To Trucks

The best advice that anyone could ever give when restoring a classic car is make sure that the parts are correct and make sure they fit. Given this age-old advice, Classic Industries offers a word on how to restore your classic truck from home.

The first thing that Classic Industries suggest when restoring a wooden truck bed is to check the steel support structures underneath before pulling out any wooden bed planks. The steel support structures should always be checked for rust and other forms of damage, and should they be compromised for any reason, they should definitely be replaced. Fortunately, Classic Industries does offer a wide selection of reproduction cross rails and other reinforcements for classic Chevy and GMC truck applications.

The second word of advice–but probably the most vital–that Classic offers on wooden truck bed kits is to always keep in mind that not all bed kits come pre-drilled, so it’s always important to pre-measure your original planks, so that you’ll be able to match-up all of your bolt holes, should the situation arise that you need to drill your own holes.

Consequently, Classic Industries also offers a vast selection of pre-drilled kits for most 1947-87 Chevy and GMC truck models.

In regards to paint-and-appearance, the nice folks at Classic have a couple of words of advice: know what kind of restoration you are planning to execute and know, for certain, whether or not you’re shooting for originality.

If originality does not play a key factor in your backyard restoration, then Classic Industries recommends using such implements as bed tie-downs to make your restored truck functional, and they even recommend considering suspension upgrades for those restored trucks that will be used for towing. No matter what kind of work or play you plan on using your classic truck for, Classic Industries will be there with a vast selection of parts and accessories to keep your pickup top-shelf.
