The Chevy SS performance sedan is a car aimed at a very small sliver of the American driving population, and GM knows it. That’s why the imported-from-Australia SS comes with just a handful of options at the dealership, as well as any transmission you want, as long as you want an automatic. Or at least, those were the only options. Unfortunately for early adopters, GM may be planning on adding two of the most asked-for options; Magnetic Ride Control and a manual gearbox.

That’s the word from Motor Trend’s Johnny Lieberman, who let it slip via Twitter that GM is planning to add these two highly-coveted options to the Chevy SS later this year. Sucks to be an early adopter.

According to Lieberman, the announcement won’t come until the Woodward Dream Cruise later this year, though he’s supposedly been “sitting” on this scoop for some time. We can’t exactly say we’re shocked to hear this news though, as the Chevy SS could really use a shift-for-yourself option, and Magnetic Ride Control will really help the heavy sedan stick to the corners.

These features probably won’t arrive until the 2015 edition of the Chevy SS, which could be as far as a year away. On the other hand, the manual transmission and Magnetic Ride Control might be offered as early as this fall, with the timing giving eager enthusiasts a chance to plan their next purchase. And for those early adopters who just couldn’t wait?

Suck it up and enjoying your $45,000, 415 horsepower sports sedan anyways, and be thankful you don’t have to shift when you inevitably hit another traffic jam.
