Building A Pro-Touring Z28 With LS Power

[1]
We sometimes have car projects that get started only to get put on hold while life and responsibilities happen around us. These projects can get put on hold for a few months, or a few years depending on your financial situation.

Typically, the shorter the hiatus is, the more we wish we had taken our time and done it differently. But when you do take your time and do it the way you want, it rarely ever turns out to be anything less than awesome.

On Pro-Touring.com [10] we found this 1979 Z28 Camaro that Brandon Slater started when he was just 23 years old. As you can tell from the pics, he started with a rather rough project and he’s transforming it into something awesome.

He has an ’02 LS1 with a T56 trans, QA1 coilover shocks and a Ride Tech four-link rear suspension supporting a Moser 12 bolt rear end and Corvette brakes with a Wilwood master cylinder. For tires, he’s going wide with a 255/40 up front and 335/30 BF Goodrich TA KDW’s in the rear, riding on 18×8 and 18×9 Forgeline WC3 wheels. He’s running all the lines for his Vintage Air AC system behind the fender for a clean look.

He began the project in 2008, and these days he’s working away and was able to take it for a test drive. Looking at the progress and getting it out for some air is a good motivator to get it back on the road, and we can’t wait to see it.
