It was a sad way to start off the new year with the news that fellow automotive journalist, Paul Zazarine passed away on January 3rd. Paul was a true-blue muscle car enthusiast, purist and aficionado. In fact, Paul’s impact on the hobby can be felt in several different facets, as he was instrumental in shaping the modern Pontiac restoration hobby as well as those of the Mopar, classic Chevrolet and Corvette persuasion.
Working together with Pontiac legend Jim Wangers, Paul wrote and co-authored several guides and books including Glory Days, The GTO Recognition Guide, The GTO Restoration Guide, How To Restore Your Musclecar, The GTO Buyer”s Guide, and 1964-1967 GTO History. Moreover, Paul was an automotive journalist, instrumental in the launching Corvette Fever, Mopar Muscle Magazine, Chevy Truck and serving as a longtime editor of Muscle Car Review.
His 20 year career was also marked with accolades such as Moto Award for the Best Automotive Technical Book of 1985, as well as serving for five years as a member of the board of directors of the National Corvette Museum, helping making the museum a reality.
The Wide Track Warriors Pontiac Car Club of Orlando, FL, is working together with Mrs. Zazarine to organize a memorial tribute to honor her late husband. The service will be held this upcoming January 16th, at 6pm at the Carl Black Dealership in Orlando, FL. For more information, email [email protected].
