A Look At Southern Performance Systems’ Wild LS Builds

It takes a lot to grab people’s attention with LS builds these days and that’s both a good and bad thing. Since they are fairly easy to make power with, you’ll find them between the fenders of just about everything. From rock crawlers to rails, the LS has powered just about everything on the planet—even the space shuttle if memes are to be believed. But one shop that is still building stand out LS engines is Southern Performance Systems [1] out of Sugar Hill, Georgia. After seeing these things, we think you can agree.

Not only is Southern Performance turning out some of the most powerful LS engines around, they’re also some of the most beautiful we’ve ever seen. From custom painted to custom built, Southern Performance does it all and even offers turn-key LS options for those that want a quick solution. But for those that prefer something a little more custom, they’ve got you covered there as well.

All of Southern Performance’s builds start with Chevrolet Performance [3]’s LSX Bowtie block, which is a cast iron piece featuring 6-head bolts per cylinder and capable of holding more than 2,000 horsepower. Next, it’s stuff with forged internals and topped with your choice of cylinder heads and intake.

Once the engines are fully assembled, Southern Performance tosses them on the engine dyno to break them in and make sure they are producing prodigious amounts of power. What’s more, the guys over at SPS will dress them up any way you’d like, ensuring they are the perfect compliment to any build and making sure you stand out in a crowd. If that sounds good, head over to southernperformancesystems.com to find out more.
