‘68 Camaro Restomod From SEMA 2015 Would Make A Great Souvenir

There is no doubting that the annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas, is one of the greatest automotive events on the planet. It’s essentially a grown-up playground for all things high-performance and high-tech, bringing the biggest car companies from across the globe under one roof for four days of showcasing the best of what they’ve got. And in some cases, actively trying to sell their best for a quick buck.

This 1968 Chevy Camaro restomod that was the star of the Nitto Tire booth this year is already up for grabs as one of the most expensive souvenirs you can bring home from SEMA. The asking price for this muscle machine? A mere $130,000 on eBay, as of this writing.

restomod-chevy-1This Prowler Orange ‘68 Camaro remains mostly-true to its original look, though it sits lower to the ground for a meaner appearance. Built by Starlite Rod & Custom of Torrance, California, the original suspension was ditched for a custom setup from RideTech, with a four-link and coilover setup on the rear, and a coilover front suspension with their True Turn steering system on the front. This allows room for the sticky Nitto NT555 tires mounted to Forgeline WC3 wheels measuring 18×9 on the front, and 18×12 on the rear. Six-piston Wilwood brakes provide ample stopping power with massive 14-inch rotors.

Making power for this restomod is a 525 horsepower, naturally-aspirated 383 cubic-inch small-block stroker engine fed by a Holley fuel injection system. s-l1600A Tremec T-56 manual transmission sends power to a Moser rearend filled with a True Trac differential to put all that power to the ground. The inside has been worked over too, getting an ididit steering column, modified BMW M3 seats, JBL audio system, custom dashboard, Vintage Air A/C, and leather seats to tie this restomod all together.

Anyplace else, and this Camaro restomod would be a real show stopper, but at SEMA, it’s merely par for the course. Even the $130,000 price tag is probably on the low end of average for most SEMA show cars. But it would be one hell of a souvenir to take home from the world’s greatest car show.
