So far most of us have only seen the 2016 Chevy Camaro in pictures, though some have been lucky to see it in person at events like last week’s Woodward Dream Cruise. But soon the 2016 Camaro will be on Chevy dealership lots across the country, and to get people psyched GM has released an online visualizer, as well as pricing for its next-gen muscle car.
In addition to launching its online visualizer, GM has also put out a long list of new standard features for the 2016 Camaro, which will start at $26,695, a jump of $1,995 from the 2015 model.
GM has simplified the Camaro’s option packages by offering just four trim levels, 1 LT, 2LT, 1SS, and 2SS, though the base 1LT hardly feels like a base model given all the new options it has. This includes the Chevrolet MyLink system with Apple CarPlay, push-button start with keyless access, a rear-facing camera, leather-wrapped steering wheel, power seats for both driver and passenger, and an electronic parking brake. Keep in mind, these are all standard features for the 2016 Camaro, which comes with the new 2.0 liter, 275 horsepower four-cylinder turbo that does duty as the base engine.
The RS package also returns for LT models in 2016, offering 20-inch wheels, HID headlights, LED taillamps, and a special grille and rear spoiler. Meanwhile the 1SS models add new standard cooling systems for the differential, transmission, and engine oil, Brembo four-piston caliper brakes, Goodyear Eagle F1 run flat tires, and for manual-equipped cars, Active Rev Matching and a limited-slip differential.
Stepping up to the 2SS adds safety features like Side Blind Zone and Lange Change alert systems, as well as a Bose premium audio, wireless phone charging, and leather heated/ventilated seats. Camaro SS pricing starts at $37,295, up from $34,500 for the outgoing model, though buyers get the new 455 horsepower LT1 engine from the Corvette C7 to play with.
The online configurator still isn’t live, but we expect it to be sometime over the next few weeks, and like you, we can’t wait.
