With the arrival of the 2016 Chevy Camaro, GM is looking to steal some thunder from the Ford Mustang’s 50th anniversary by taking back the sales crown. From the already-released performance specifications we know that the Camaro SS is about a half-second quicker to 60 mph than its cross-town rival, and we know that the starting prices are similar as well. But what we haven’t known until now are the price breakdowns for option packages.

CamaroNews managed to get the downlow on pricing details, filling in the blanks left by GM so that we can now price out a 2016 Camaro of our own, even though the online customizer hasn’t fully launched.

As GM already let us know, pricing for the 2016 Camaro starts at $26,695 (including destination) for the 275 horsepower four-cylinder turbo 1LT, while the 335 horsepower 3.6 liter V6 commands a $1,495 premium. The Camaro 1SS starts at $37,295 with destination, with the 2SS starting at $42,295. Of course that’s all before selecting any other options.

The tried-and-true RS package will go for $1,950, while the 2LT Light and Convenience package commands a whopping $2,800. A Dual Mode exhaust adds $895 to the MSRP, and the Magnetic Ride Control will set you back $1,695. Your choice of racing stripes means shelling out $470, while an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters is an additional $1,495 over the manual. There are also three premium paint colors (Bright Yellow, Garnet Red Tintcoat, and Mosaic Black Metallic) that cost $395 extra.

One thing is for sure, muscle cars like the Camaro SS aren’t getting any cheaper. But they are getting a helluva lot better, with standard features like infotainment systems, push-button start, and other 21st century wonders. You get what you pay for.
