SEMA 2017: Miller Makes Welding At Home Easier For Enthusiasts

If you’re building or maintaining your hot rod, then you either have a home-use welder, or you need one. If you need one, the folks at Miller Welding have a couple of home-use models that can benefit any auto enthusiast.

We’ll start with the Millermatic 211. This new version of a great MIG welder delivers an improved duty cycle (the number of minutes, within a 10 minute period, that a welder can safely produce a particular welding current), and welds material from 24 gauge to 3/8-inch thick in a single pass – the highest output in its class.

“This new model continues to deliver class-leading advantages that make it one of the most popular all-in-one MIG welders, and now is easier to use, easier to move, and easier than ever to get great welding results,” said Emily Mueller, product manager for Miller Electric Mfg. Co. Advanced Auto-Set capabilities allow the user to select from five different wire and gas combinations, making setup even easier than before. Infinite voltage control provides the flexibility to manually set welding parameters, if desired.

The Multimatic 215 weighs just 38 pounds, and can be set up for multiple materials and weld processes using the color LCD interface. That means the unit is MIG, flux-core, DC TIG and DC stick welding capable. It also welds up to 3/8-inch thick mild steel in a single pass.

“The Multimatic 215 provides up to 230 amps of power for MIG projects. Just add an electrode holder or a torch, and it’s ready for stick or TIG welding, too,” Mueller says.

The 215 can be easily set up for multiple materials and weld processes using the color LCD interface.

Both units have the Miller exclusive Multi-Voltage Plug (MVP), which allows operators to weld in more places by simply choosing the plug that fits a 120 V or 240 V power receptacle and connecting it to the power cord. No tools are required.
