SEMA 2014: We Meet Wade Kawasaki, Coker Confirms Stout Expansion

IMG_9578We caught up with Marla Moore of the Coker Group to get the skinny on the company’s future initiatives and to learn more about their president, Wade Kawasaki. We were delighted to hear that Coker Tire would be expanding its brand awareness to Japan this December by exhibiting at the 2014 Mooneyes Yokohama show.

Moore noted, “This last year Corky Coker said, ‘You know what, Wade’s a pretty smart guy–I think we’re going to make him president.’”

Moore gave us some background on Kawasaki, and despite boasting an impressive portfolio, he was a humble gentlemen when we met him at the Coker booth this year.IMG_9573

“Wade has been involved in the industry for many years. He got his start working in a gas station and has obviously come a very long way. As far as his SEMA involvement is concerned, he’s served on the SEMA board of directors, he was SEMA Person of the Year, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame. He is one of the founding members of SEMA’s Young Executives Network aka YEN, and has held several other positions in the organization.”

IMG_9580Moore continued, “Within the industry, Wade sits on the board for DUB. He worked closely with co-founder, Myles Kovacs, as far as helping him with advice on how to get the magazine going.”

When Kawasaki came to the Coker Group he was an integral part during the acquisition of Wheel Vintiques and has helped expand the Coker Group to its present number of 10 companies.

Moore closed by confirming several campaigns that the company would be dedicating resources to, “We will continue to expand and further our company as the king of steel wheels, as far as Coker Tire, we will be growing our tire line–specifically, we’re going to be doing more with the motorcycle industry.”
