Lucas Oil worked with Richard Childress Racing to develop a line of performance lubrication products that will be championed under a new XRF or Extreme Racing Formula brand.
“This comes after one and a half years of testing and retesting,” says Matt Neff of Lucas Oil.
The extreme conditions of a NASCAR engine presented an ideal test platform. NASCAR engines rev close to 10,000 rpm and are forced to run extremely hot as teams close off the grilles to help improve aerodynamics.
“Think of how brutal that is,” reminds Neff.
All of the products in the line have been upgraded or reformulated from the original Lucas Racing Only line to meet the requirements of RCR. Final details have yet to be released but the viscosity ranges and other choices in the competition lubrication category will be similar to the Racing Only line. In fact, the final packaging design wasn’t confirmed at the PRI Show. The promotional bottles in the display had a prototype packaging design to identify the new line of racing oils. The final design is expected to have different fonts and colors but the XRF brand will be featured along with the familiar Lucas Oil shield.
Officials say the XRF line will be available after the New Year.
